WORKSHOPS: Pratyaksha pramana, see with your own eyes
I teach the following workshops, bringing Ayurveda to life in a practical and meaningful way, enabling practitioners to take the knowledge home and use it to create health and vitality.
The workshops focus on demystifying the science. We speak plainly about the intricacies of balance and health, enabling practical use of our food and lifestyle to gain control of our body and mind.
Elementary Ayurveda
Presenting the fundamentals of Ayurveda, this workshop brings a broad understanding of the science of life. By removing the mystery, the workshop answers the basic questions of Ayurveda and corrects some long-held misunderstandings.
Ayurveda is presented in an uncomplicated and accessible way allowing students to begin a journey to make better use the principles.
Understanding Doshas
A principle foundation of Ayurveda - the doshas. Where do they come from? How are they created? When and why do they cause disease? How can we control them? What does it mean to control them?
Working with your Prakriti
Primary to using Ayurveda in our lives, we must know our birth dosha. Online tests can be confusing and often wrong so a clear picture of each doshic type is explained and we explore the individual dosha balance to find out how to restore and work with our natal dosha.
We will also discover how Ayurveda views disease and how we can work with our natal constitution to reverse, and even prevent, disease.
The Myth of Modern Nutrition
A challenging title for a amorphous subject. It seems with each week that passes new diets are "discovered", a new superfood is "found", and more confusing "information" is dumped on us.
Ayurveda gives insight into why studies are not 100% reliable, why some diets only work for certain people, and how we can better read between the lines to know what to believe.
In this workshop we dissect modern information to find out what it really means - How are calories in food measured? Are calories a reliable measurement? Are certain foods good for certain diseases? Are genes an assured fate?
Seasonal Eating
Ayurveda speaks of eating for your type. The part that often gets lost is... eating seasonally. There is some confusion about whether fasting is beneficial, when to do it and even how.
We will go back to the classics to learn more about ritucharya (seasonal changes) and how they are relevant today. Fasting, massage, yoga and routines for each type and for each season will be explained for a deeper understanding of what, how and importantly, when.
I am available to teach the workshops either as topics on their own or as a series of linked workshops as part of a retreat. Please get in touch.
